Chemistry Lab Procedure

Lab procedure
  1. Remove toothpicks (using fingers, put on tray).
  2. Pour half the water from the cup (carefully) into the graduated cylinder.
  3. Remove white beans from cup using the spoon (put next to toothpicks on tray).
  4. Filter remaining water into the flask.
  5. Pour water from the graduated cylinder into the flask.put flask on the tray.
  6. Use spoon to remove the glass from the cup.
  7. Start the hot plate (remember it is hot).  Place flask on the hot plate for 5-10 minutes.
  8. Use magnet to extract the iron from the cup.
  9. Remove flask from hot plate (after 5-10 minutes).  Use magnifying glass to identify the build-up on the side of the flask.
  10. Keep the sand in the cup. Place cup next to the other objects.
If followed correctly the objects should be glass, iron, sand, salt, water, wood/toothpicks, and beans.
